WEATHER LATEST: Hospital cancels non-urgent appointments

ROTHERHAM General Hospital has cancelled all non-urgent appointments and surgery.

The A&E department will operate an normal for emergencies and only urgent enquiries should be made to the hospital’s switchboard.

Patients will be contacted to rearrange appointments once the weather improves.

Rotherham Community Health Services will be cancelling routine appointments.

The Walk-In Centre is open until 9pm and some doctors surgeries and chemists are open as normal where staffing allows. Contact your local branch for further information.

Rotherham Borough Council‘s customer services centres re-opened as normal but closed at 1pm, with the exception of Bailey House, which will shut at 3.30pm.

All libraries, including mobile

All leisure centres

Archives & Local Studies service

Art Gallery

Arts Centre

Community Arts service

Clifton Park Museum

Visitor Centre

York & Lancaster Regimental Museum

All waste collections have been suspended today, as the crews have been deployed on snow clearing and gritting operations.

Thrybergh and Ulley country parks are closed again. Rother Valley is allowing walkers but not vehicles and staff have warned visitors to be careful and stay off the ice.

BUS services in Rotherham are still being severely hit by the snow.

According to South Yorkshire Travel the only routes operating so far are as follows:

Srv 1/2 to Hellaby only

Srv 41/42 suspended

Srv X78 Sheffield to Doncaster (not via Conisbrough Centre)

RAIL: There are currently no trains via Rotherham Central and other services are being disrupted.

ROADS:

M1 South Yorkshire, J32, M18 Congestions to Junction 31 because of an overturned car transporter.

FORECAST: The Met Office has again issued a weather warning for Yorkshire and Humberside with more snow forecast today and a severe frost tonight.

M18 South Yorkshire - M18 lane closed on exit slip road northbound at J5, M180 (Stainforth), because of an accident.

A57 South Yorkshire - A57 in Todwick closed between Sheffield and Todwick Crossroads, because of snow.
