Village recycles Parkgate's giant baubles

A NEW library has been given a splash of festive colour with Christmas decorations that are gold, silver—and “green.”

The recycled baubles have been given a new home at Wickersley Community Centre and Library after the Next store at Parkgate Shopping decided to donate them to a good cause after last winter’s seasonal sales.

The new arrivals will be hard to miss as they stand up to 5ft high—almost as tall as the people in charge of hanging them in the new building.

Cllr Sue Ellis, chairman of Wickersley Parish Council, said: “I was delighted when I saw that the Christmas baubles on display last year in Next at Parkgate were in the parish council colours.

“Debbie, the store manager, was eager to assist in recycling these items and they were donated after Christmas for free.

“Some of these baubles are larger than me—people kept stopping to ask who was this mad woman walking around with 5ft high baubles.”
