Young man dies after Sheffield Arena crash

A YOUNG man has died after a road crash outside Sheffield Arena on Saturday night.

The 19-year-old, named locally as Louis Booth of Kimberworth (pictured), was crossing Broughton Lane at around 9.25pm when he collided with a silver Audi A3.

He was taken to hospital with life-threatening head injuries, but died yesterday.

The Audi was travelling towards Carbrook when the crash happened, close to the Noose and Gibbet pub, at the junction of Broughton Lane and Surbiton Street.

The 30-year-old driver is not thought to have been injured.

Police closed part of Greenland Road after the incident, warning drivers leaving the arena to expect delays.

The stadium was packed for a performance by Public Enemy and The Prodigy.

Officers are appealing for witnesses to the crash call them on 101, quoting incident number 1125 of November 28.
