Woodland development group needs more members

A NEW community group aimed at developing a new village woodland has appealed for fresh members.

Anston Community Woodland Group has 105 saplings to plant and needs helpers to grab a shovel and get involved.

Organiser and borough councillor Jonathan Ireland said a broad range of trees would be planted, including downy birch, holly, crab apple, rowan, hazel and hawthorn and was keen to hear from for volunteers.

“This is a fantastic opportunity for people to become involved in creating an accessible woodland open to all the community,” he said.

“Any help will be welcomed even if you only plant one or two trees.”

The proposed location for the woodland is on parish land therefore is subject to approval from the parish council.

Any prospective volunteers should call 07989 621896 or email [email protected].
