Woman locked up for defying ASBO

A WOMAN was remanded in custody for breaching her ASBO—just a week after being handed it.

Elizabeth Cullen (29) was fined £50 and given a two year order on May 12 for being drunk and disorderly.

Nine days later she was back in court after breaching the ASBO terms, which say she cannot be drunk or drink alcohol in public in Doncaster.

Pc Martin Smith, from the Antisocial Behaviour Team, said: “This woman has regularly been arrested in the town centre for drunken behaviour and has been a nuisance to members of the public.

“I am glad this has been acknowledged by the court and the needs of the community have been taken into consideration.

“I’m also very pleased that after breaching the ASBO she has been kept in custody, which sends a clear message out.”

He added: “The conditions of ASBOs must be adhered to and the police and courts take any breaches seriously.

“I hope in future she will observe the conditions of the order or she could find herself back in court.”

Cullen, of Lime Tree Walk, Denaby, will be back at Doncaster Magistrates’ Court on Friday, June 3.
