Witnesses sought after girl airlifted to hospital

AN injured 11-year-old girl was flown to hospital by air ambulance with serious injuries following a collision on a busy road.

Flying medics attended the incident near the Alpine pub on Fenton Road, Greasbrough, at 3.40pm on Friday (7).

A South Yorkshire Police spokeswoman confirmed that a black Skoda had been involved in a collision with an 11-year-old girl.

The spokeswoman added the girl, a pedestrian, was walking on a footpath that crosses Fenton Road, joining Fenton Way with Orchard Flats Crescent, just after 3.20pm on Friday.

A black Skoda Octavia was travelling uphill on Fenton Road when approximately 500 yards before the junction with Roughwood Road it was in collision with the girl.

The local girl sustained serious injuries and was taken to Sheffield Children's Hospital.

The Skoda driver, a 35-year-old man, is not believed to have been injured.
