Witness plea after biker hurt in smash

A MOTORCYCLIST suffered a broken leg and spinal injuries when a vehicle turned across the path of his motorcycle, police believe.

Officers are appealing for information about the incident which happened on Doncaster Road, Darfield, at around 8.10am last Thursday.

A police spokesman said: “A red Vauxhall Meriva was travelling along Doncaster Road towards Darfield when it’s believed to have turned right across the path of the motorbike, which was travelling along Doncaster Road in the opposite direction.

“The rider of the black Huoniao motorbike, a 21-year-old man from Wombwell, suffered a broken leg and spinal injuries. He was taken to Barnsley District General Hospital where he was detained.”

The car driver, a 68-year-old man from Darfield, was also taken to hospital but was not detained.
