Wind turbine plans get go-ahead

CONTROVERSIAL plans for six giant wind turbines have been waved through by planners.

A final decision on the 132-metre tall structures near Ulley was deferred by Rotherham Borough Council in August after a legal challenge.

An updated report was prepared by developers Banks Renewable to address concerns over bats and noise.

Eight objectors put their case to the planning board at the Town Hall on Thursday but saw their pleas to reject or further defer the application turned down.

Cllr John Turner was the only member to vote against the plans, on the grounds that one turbine was too close to housing.

Campaigner Peter Hubbard said after: “This showed the same disregard for our community that was shown the first time.”
