ALE FANS rejoice — organisers are giving away 20 golden tickets to one of Britain’s biggest beer festivals.
Magna Real Ale and Music Festival have joined with the Advertiser to offer ten lucky winners a pair of tickets.
The festival takes over the science centre once again from March 2 to 4 and details have now been revealed of the live music on offer.
Friday night entertainment will include 1960s pop tribute band The Fabs and Sheffield Ska sensation Jungle Lion, while Saturday will see John Widdop and Carnival grace the stage.
Organisers have also got their hands on two casks of a rare favourite and past champion from Somerset.
At 7.3 per cent ABV, Moor Beer’s Old Freddy Walker is a strong southern sup made with five malts, imparting liquorice and molasses flavours.
The black beverage won Champion Winter Beer of Britain in 2004 and featured on ale guru Roger Protz’s 300 Beers To Try Before You Die list.
There’s another rare treat on offer as Keighley-based Timothy Taylors is launching its first pump staple since 1952 — Knowle Spring Blonde.
This year’s festival will also feature dozens of brews from South Yorkshire and the West Country.
It has been christened Mines a Pint, a homage to the counties’ mining heritage.
Tickets are available online and in pubs — for more information, visit www.magnarealale.uk/tickets.
