Wilkinsons chip in £17,000 help fund Bluebell Wood nurse

A CHILDREN’S charity has welcomed a £17,000 donation which will go towards funding a full-time nurse.

Bluebell Wood Children’s Hospice, in North Anston, received the boost from home retailer Wilkinsons as part of the company’s commitment to local charities.

The money will be used to pay for a nurse at the hospice which cares for children with life-limiting conditions and supports their families.

Bluebell Wood chief executive, Sarah Champion, said: “We’d like to thank Wilkinsons for their incredibly generous donation.

“Bluebell Wood Children’s Hospice receives no statutory government funding and it costs £2.5 million every year to continue helping children and their families in this region.

“Without the kind support of Wilkinsons’ staff and shoppers and others like them, we wouldn't be able to help as many children as we do.”

Wilkinsons chief financial officer, Ian Ellis, added: “The work carried out by the staff at Bluebell Wood is fantastic and it plays a vital role in helping and supporting families come to terms with the difficulties of looking after a child who has a life limiting condition.
