Watch out for bogus council worker in Rawmarsh

RESIDENTS are warned to be on their guard after reports of a bogus council worker.

Rotherham North NHP Team said a man had been in the Rawmarsh area knocking on doors and claiming to be a Rotherham Borough Council worker, before offering to go shopping for vulnerable residents

PCSO David Jackson said: “When challenged, he has produced some form of ID Card, but has quickly put this away before it could be read.

“When challenged again the man has quickly left. He is not from RMBC.”

He added: “Please be advised that all council, police and any other genuine callers to your door should happily show ID and provide a contact number for you to speak with if you should so wish.”

The man is described as white, aged about 30, with blond hair.

He was about 5ft 8ins tall and wearing a dark green bomber jacket with a hood and blue jeans.

PCSO Jackson said: “Please do not hesitate to call the police should you have a suspicious caller to your door at any time of day or night.”
