Walkabout planned for Goldthorpe

RESIDENTS are being invited to take part in a walkabout and raise any issues that they have about their neighbourhood.

The event, on February 16, around the Goldthorpe area, has been organised by Berneslai Home’s Dearne Housing Management Team, which is responsible for maintaining council homes in the area.

The team will be joined by councillors, members of tenants and residents associations, the safer neighbourhood team and the fire service.

It will start at 10am outside the Dearne Enterprise Centre on Barnburgh Lane before touring Windmere Avenue, Derwent Gardens, Lindale Gardens, Goldthorpe Road, Hope Avenue, Homecroft Road, Welfare View and Washington Road.

Vince Lally, housing management team leader, said:  “We try and encourage people to  let us know of anything the makes the area look untidy from fly tipping to damaged fencing.

“It is very useful to record everything that is reported to us.

“It is a very big area and sometimes things can be missed. With our officers out and about people have a chance to tell us what has been going on so we can investigate and carry out repairs.”
