Virgin ready for Indian trip

TEAM boss John Booth admits that Virgin Racing will be stepping into the unknown when the Formula One circus breaks new ground next week.

The inaugural Indian Grand Prix takes place at a new circuit 20 miles from New Delhi, with organisers desperate to make sure the race is a success following the traumas of last year’s Commonwealth Games.

But, so far, everything has dropped into place at the Buddh International Circuit at Noida and India sees this is a chance for New Delhi to redeem itself.

The run-up to the Commonwealth Games was a dreadful embarrassment for the city, with leaky stadiums, filthy toilets, last-minute security planning and the wave of withdrawals from the event by big-name athletes.

Says Booth: “We’ll be back in the UK this week preparing for the inaugural Indian Grand Prix and the whole team—from the engineers to logistics—are looking forward to the challenge of what is a voyage into the unknown.”
