VIDEO: Walkthrough at town centre shop where police found £1.5 million in cannabis

POLICE have discovered a cannabis haul worth an estimated £1.5 million in a vacant town centre shop.

Officers found around 2,000 plants at the former Clinton Cards shop on College Street.

Uncovered on Thursday morning, the huge haul was growing just metres from High Street.

Police conducted a raid after receiving information about the grow.

Two men have been arrested and were in custody on Thursday afternoon.

A spokesman for Rotherham Central Neighbourhood Policing Team Tweeted: “Looks like we’re having a busy day today.

“Not sure how many plants yet but will keep you updated. Two arrested and in the cells waiting to be processed.

“Estimated about at least £1.5 million worth of cannabis seized. Info from the local community always helps.”
