VIDEO: Tour of the new Rotherham Hospice extension

END-of-life care entered a new era as Rotherham Hospice took on 70 NHS staff—a day after its multi-million pound extension was completed.

The employees were transferred from NHS posts to the hospice team as Rotherham Community Health Services drew to a close.

It means that there are more than 100 people directly employed by the hospice, which has become a fully-independent charity.

And the Broom Road complex’s extension boasts ten en-suite bedrooms, each with outdoor areas and views across Herringthorpe playing fields.

Chief executive Mike Wilkerson said: "It is exciting to stand here today and look at a Rotherham Hospice that is both fit for purpose and fit for the future.”
