A WORKING men’s club destroyed in an arson attack has been demolished.

The blaze ripped through the disused Dalton Progressive Working Men’s Club in the early hours of Friday, with 30 firefighters needed to tackle the incident.

South Yorkshire Fire and Rescue confirmed that the fire at the site on Doncaster Road in Dalton had been started deliberately.

And diggers had been called in by this morning to reduce the wrecked building to rubble.

The “Prog” club closed last year and Lidl has plans to open a supermarket on the site.
