VIDEO: £520,000 worth of cannabis seized in town centre raids

A CANNABIS haul valued at £525,000 found at a town centre flat and 16 arrests were the main successes during a borough-wide day of action.

Dozens of officers from around South Yorkshire took part on Tuesday in Operation Duxford, which targeted drug and vehicle offences.

In an early-morning raid in Westgate, they discovered a six-room cannabis farm above a takeaway, just a short distance from the Main Street Police Station.

The sophisticated set-up had around 500 plants at various stages of growth.

A 26-year-old man and a 15-year-old boy were arrested on suspicion of cannabis production.
