The raiders struck a barn off Coley Lane near West Melton overnight on Sunday.

The barn’s owners said that after cutting a heavy lock off the door, the vandas had damaged a Tesla S sports car and several vintage Nissan Figaros.

Nothing was stolen but obscene graffiti was left inside, causing the cars’ owner to suspect that his building was misidentified as someone else’s.

The man — a professional car restorer who asked not to be named — said he thought the vandals may have been targeting a neighbour.

He said: “I’m not someone who has enemies and it would have been easier to target me at home.

“None of the cars were insured because of where they were kept, so far from the farmhouse.

“This is such a mindless crime. It has wiped out my entire pension.”
