A 22-YEAR-OLD man has been stabbed in Mexborough this afternoon (May 31).

Police were called to the Hartley Street roundabout at around 2.55pm.

A police cordon is in place while the incident is investigated.

    The man was taken to hospital with serious injuries.

    All roads that connect to the roundabout are closed, which include Swinton Road, Wath Road, Greens Way and Hartley Street, and drivers are advised to avoid the area.

    Anyone with information should call the police on 101, quoting incident number 461 of Thursday, May 31.

    An eyewitness has told the Advertiser that an air ambulance attended the scene.

    Another witness said that he saw a youth who was sat on a wall stabbed by another youth who then ran off.
