Two-year-old in hospital after accident

A black BMW 3 series collided with the child at around 8pm on Wednesday, near a pedestrian crossing on Meadow Bank Road at its junction with Wilton Lane.

The girl suffered “suspected serious injuries” and was taken to hospital, a police spokeswoman said.

An eyewitness said that the girl was being pushed in a pram, when the accident happened.

The BMW was travelling towards Kimberworth when the collision took place and the driver stopped at the scene, the spokeswoman said.

Officers are urging anyone who was in the area or who witnessed the collision to contact them on 101, quoting incident 860 of February 21.
