Two set for Crown Court trial over armed robbery at Rotherham jewellers

TWO men will appear before the Crown Court next month accused of an armed robbery at a Rotherham jewellers.

Shakil Hussain (26), of Bridge Close, Airmyn, East Yorkshire, and Lyle Copley (22), of Cecil Avenue, Doncaster, are charged with robbery and possession of a bladed article in relation to the raid at  Diamonds Classic Gold Jewellers in the Imperial Buildings on April 30.

Copley has also been charged with possession with intent to supply class A drugs and driving offences.

They appeared by video link before Sheffield Crown Court on Wednesday (30) and the case was adjourned until June 20, with a trial expected to begin on October 17.

Both men were remanded in custody.
