Two hurt in Canklow shooting

TWO men suffered pellet wounds after being shot at from a car in a late-night incident in Canklow.

Detectives in Rotherham are appealing for witnesses and information after the shooting at around 1.45am in Bentley Street last Wednesday

The men, in their twenties, were outside a property when they saw two men in a blue Ford transit flat-back-style vehicle acting suspiciously.

There were verbal exchanges before the men in the van, believed to be from outside the area, drove off.

Police believe the same men returned ten minutes later in a dark-blue, old-shape Astra, which had a large rear spoiler, a big exhaust and alloy wheels.

The car pulled up and shotgun pellets were fired from the front passenger side, hitting the two men on foot.

The vehicle moved off along Bentley Street, towards Centenary Way.

Both men suffered minor injuries and were detained overnight in Rotherham General Hospital.

Detectives investigating the incident do not believe that it is linked to any organised criminality.

Police are appealing for information and witnesses, including anyone in a silver VW Golf seen in the area around the same time as the Astra.
