Two convenience stores robbed in two hours

DETECTIVES are linking two robberies on convenience stores which happened in two hours on Friday morning (23).

A man with a scarf over his face entered a shop on St Leonard’s Avenue, Thrybergh, at 5.45am and intimated he was in possession of a weapon, police said.

He left with £65 after demanding cash.

A man matching the same description entered another store on Flanderwell Lane in Bramley at 7.25am and made off with £60.

In both robberies, the suspect is described as 6ft, white and slim. He was wearing dark clothing and a scarf covering his face.

Acting Det Insp Aneela Khalil-Khan said: “Thankfully there were no injuries sustained by anyone during the robberies, however it is an incredibly distressing incident to be made to endure and staff are understandably shaken and upset.

“We are treating the robberies as linked and have already made various enquiries in connection to both crimes, including forensic analysis and viewing CCTV footage.

“Were you in the Thrybergh or Bramley areas on Friday morning? Did you see anyone acting suspiciously? 

“Even if you think the information you have is insignificant, it could prove to be vital to the investigation and identifying the man responsible.”

Anyone with information is asked to call police on 101 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111, quoting either incident number 122 or 153 of March 23.
