Two charged over stabbing on Wellgate

TWO men from Sheffield have been charged with GBH following a stabbing on Wellgate.

Aaron Casey (24) and Louis Barker (26) also face charges of racially aggravated criminal damage and possession of a bladed article.

They approached a black Audi A3 whose driver, a 19-year-old man, was reported to have been punched in the face and stabbed in his back.

The teen was taken to hospital and has since been discharged.

Barker and Casey were also charged with possession of a firearm with intent to cause fear of violence in connection with an incident in Shiregreen, Sheffield, later last Wednesday.

Two men on a motorbike were reported to have made threats and demanded money from a resident on Bellhouse Road at 8.45pm.

Det Chief Insp Steve Whittaker said: “Anyone who may have witnessed the reported incidents I would please ask to come forward, either by calling police on 101, or anonymously calling Crimestoppers on 0800 555111.

“We will all always thoroughly investigate any reports made to us. If you have any concerns in your area I would encourage you to please get in touch.” 

Barker, of North Hill Road, Sheffield, and Casey of Deerlands Avenue, Sheffield, were remanded in custody to appear at Sheffield Magistrates’ Court last Friday.
