Troubled school rapped by Ofsted

A DECLINING school has been placed into special measures by inspectors for failing its pupils with weak teaching and leadership.

Anston Brook plummeted two grades and into the bottom five per cent of primaries nationally following Ofsted’s judgement.

Pupils’ behaviour and safety was the only category to be rated good, while the rest were judged as inadequate.

Lead inspector Joan McKenna said: “There is a declining trend in attainment and pupils’ achievement by the end of Year 6 is inadequate.

The school, in North Anston, teaches 195 three to 11-year-olds and was rated good after a 2009 Ofsted report.

A new leadership team is in the process of being formed.
