A DISTRESSED dog had to be rescued by firefighters after getting its paw stuck for three hours.

A crew from Rotherham station came to the aid of four-year-old Shilo the husky on Saturday after the pet got its paw firmly lodged in its cage.

Watch manager Gary Ridgeway (pictured) and his crew attended the rescue on Rother Road, Canklow, at 6.45pm and was at the scene for 30 minutes.

Gary tweeted this picture after the rescue with the hashtag #notjustfires.
