Transport police appeal after assault on board train

POLICE want to trace this man after a passenger was grabbed by the throat on a train.

The victim — travelling from Doncaster to Sheffield — had asked the suspect to move his leg as it was resting against him.

A British Transport Police spokeswoman said: “The man then launched a torrent of abuse, threatening the victim and grabbing him around the throat, before pushing him towards the ground.

“The incident was reported by a number of passengers, who said they were frightened by the behaviour.”

It happened on the evening of Sunday, February 18. Anyone with information is asked to contact BTP by calling 0800 405040 or texting 61016, using reference 166 of February 19.
