Titans gun for second cup win

ROTHERHAM Titans coach Andy Key will target a second win of the season this weekend as they build towards a key part of the Championship season.

Key was delighted with Titans’ hard-fought 28-23 British and Irish Cup win over Irish side Connacht Eagles last Saturday, ending a barren run of six straight league defeats.

Now they head to Richmond, also in the cup, on Saturday and Key wants his side to carry on where they left off.

“Of course it was good to get that win and it was a monkey off our backs, now we have to keep it going,” he said.

Key’s prime target will be next week’s clash with top guns Ealing at Clifton Lane and he was pleased to see his side bolstered by the addition of new loan recruits Will Porter and Tom Willis from Wasps.

The Advertiser understands that more new blood could also be on the way with both dual-registered players and permanent signings on the radar as Rotherham look to preserve their Championship status.

We’ve more on that in this Friday's Advertiser -  plus a look at the possibility of the second tier being expanded, which could signal good news for the Clifton Lane men.
