ROTHERHAM Sight & Sound will set up an information desk to mark Tinnitus Week next week.

The charity, based on Ship Hill in the town centre, is aiming to raise awareness of the confition, which affects about a tenth of the population.

Leaflets will be available all week, February 5 to 11, and a drop-in session will take place from 10am to 1pm on Tuesday when staff will have more information.

Tinnitus is desrcibed as the perception of sound in the absence of any corresponding external noise.

It can be low, medium or high-pitched and may come and go.

Rotherham Sight & Sound would like to set up a tinnitus support group.

Anyone interested in attending can contact Sue Hill, centre co-ordinator, on 01709 722420.
