Thugs attack couple - police plea for help

A COUPLE needed hospital treatment after a group of men and women wielding a piece of wood and length of plastic attacked them in Wath.

Police are appealing for witnesses after the incident between 12.45am and 1.30am on Saturday on Cemetery Road.

The man and woman, aged 30 and 32, were walking along when they were approached by the group who are all thought to be in their late teens to early 20s.

The couple were then assaulted with items including a piece of wood and a length of plastic causing minor injuries to both which required hospital treatment.

One of the men involved is described as wearing grey tracksuit bottoms with his top open showing his chest.

One of the women had heavy make-up and blonde hair.

Officers are working with the victims to obtain further descriptions of those involved and are asking anyone with information to call 101 quoting incident number 119 of May 27 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555111.
