Three hurt in Broom crash

THREE young men were seriously hurt when the car they were travelling in crashed into a tree.

One of the men, an 18-year-old, had to be cut free from the vehicle by firefighters.

The teenager suffered serious pelvic injuries and was taken to hospital along with a 19-year-old and a 23-year-old.

The accident happened just before 9pm on Tuesday when a black Vauxhall Astra travelling on Broom Lane, near to the junction with Stag Lane, left the road and collided with a tree.

The car was travelling from Rotherham towards the roundabout on East Bawtry Road and was on the wrong side of the carriageway when the collision occurred.

It is believed another vehicle was travelling with the Astra but it did not stop at the scene.

Witnesses or anyone with information about the collision is asked to call South Yorkshire Police on 101 quoting incident number 1147 of July 29.
