Three arson attacks over weekend

TWO cars and furniture which had been dumped in a road were torched over the weekend in three separate arson attacks.

An Audi A1 was set alight at around 9.20pm on Saturday on Hoober Field Road, Hoober.

The car was well alight when a crew from Dearne station attended.

They left the scene at 10.35pm.

A VW Polo was torched on Wingfield Road, Wingfield on Sunday.

A crew from Rotherham station left the scene at 7.10pm.

Firefighters from Birley Lane Station attended a fire in the open on Wood Lane, Brinsworth, at 7.04pm on Sunday.

A spokeswoman for South Yorkshire Fire and Rescue said: “It was started deliberately and believed to be fly-tipped items like general rubbish and a sofa.”

The crew left the scene an hour later.
