Theft gang arrested after tip-off

Officers from the Dearne Safer Neighbourhood Team arrested four men after a call alerted them to a suspected burglary on Queen Street, Goldthorpe, on January 27.

The four men, aged 18, 21, 25 and 42 were arrested on suspicion of trying to steal a gas boiler and copper piping.

They were later released on police bail until March 25.

This week police praised the caller who contacted to let them know about the alleged raid.

Dearne SNT Pc Steve Bray said: “I would like to thank the person who made the call which lead to the arrest of these men and could of potentially removed four suspected thieves from the streets of Goldthorpe.

“I would encourage other people to report anything suspicious they may see in their area so police can resolve it quickly and safely.”
