Teenage driver stabbed in Wellgate gang attack

A TEENAGER was pulled from his car, punched in the face and stabbed in the back in Rotherham Town Centre last night (Wednesday), police said.

The incident occurred at around 7pm on Wellgate when the 19-year-old Audi A3 driver and his passenger were approached by four men in a dark coloured car.

A police spokeswoman said: “It is believed a dark coloured vehicle pulled up and four men got of the car, approaching a black Audi A3 containing two men.

“The driver of the Audi, who is 19 years old, is reported to have been pulled from the car and punched in the face. He also sustained a stab wound to his back. 

“One of the four men is then believed to have smashed the Audi’s windscreen, before getting into the dark coloured car with the other three men and fleeing the scene. 

“The 19 year old attended hospital to be treated for his injuries.”
