ROTHERHAM Hockey Club's long-awaited return "home" is being trumpeted in fine style.
Team GB and England ace Barry Middleton was the star guest at an "Hockey Fest" last Saturday attended by hockey players and enthusiasts of all ages.
The former Aurora sports ground was a hive of activity, playing host to fun activities as well as coaching sessions led by Barry himself.
The club has returned to the revamped facility after four years in Sheffield and the venture, in conjunction with Sheffield Hallam University, has produced a venue that meets standards for top-flight hockey.
League matches begin there next Saturday but in the meantime the busy programme of events continues with a club tournament tomorrow.
Starting at 10.30am, it is aimed at bringing together all sections of the club in celebration of the new pitch.
That is followed on Sunday by showcase matches showcasing the club's top current senior teams against club legend,s including club old boy Ian Feather's North Over-70s and current Yorkshire Hockey President Ian Bray's Yorkshire Select XI.
The schedule is — 11.30am: RHC Ladies 1st team v RHC Ladies Legends; 1pm: North O70s v England O70s; 2.30pm: RHC Men's 1st Team v RHC Men's Legends; 4pm: RHC Men's Legends v Yorskhire President's XI.
