Supercars and Star Wars - the science careers event with a touch of glamour

STORMTROOPERS and supercars rubbed shoulders with business stalls and students at Rotherham’s biggest free careers event.

Get up to Speed took over Magna once again last Wednesday to showcase some of the UK’s most exciting engineering inventions and give young people the chance to find out more about a career in science and engineering.

Businesses, inventors, apprentices and education providers were also on hand to chat about careers and technology.

A Porsche 997 Cabriolet, a Cobra Sport, a McLaren 570S Spider and a 1980 Morgan Plus were among the awe-inspiring cars on display.

Darth Vader and his henchmen put in an appearance and there was a chance to get hands-on with a spin-to-win exercise challenge and a Formula 1 Simulator.
