Students join forces with Rotherham veterans
STUDENTS helped to mark the centenary of the First World War by teaming up with a veterans group to reflect on Rotherham’s involvement in the conflict.
The Rotherham Military Community Veterans Centre joined forces with youngsters from Rotherham College and Wingfield Academy for the ‘Reflections of Rotherham’ project.
It aimed to look at the effect of the men leaving Rotherham for the trenches on the town, its industry and the women and children left behind.
The South Yorkshire Police Band provided music on the night.
