Student science stars offered place on international scholarship

SCIENCE stars from across the Dearne and Don Valleys are being urged to nominate themselves for a national talent contest to win a scholarship.

Organisers of the London International Youth Forum (LIYSF) have announced the Young Yorkshire Scholar contest to offer the region’s brightest science hopefuls the chance to win a place on the 2013 programme.

Each year in July, the brightest science students from the UK and 50 other countries come together in London for an “action-packed” programme.

The nomination requires a 250-word essay on a scientific project or research work that has been undertaken (this can be a school project) and a 150 word essay on what attending LIYSF will mean to the applicant.

These can be submitted via email and will be reviewed by an independent judging panel.

The prize package is worth more than £1,500 and includes accommodation, lectures, visits, social activities and food for the two-week residential programme.

To enter visit www.liysf.org.uk/YorkshireScholar. The deadline for entries is April 22.
