South Yorkshire Police worker accused of stealing more than £95,000

A FORMER South Yorkshire Police worker is alleged to have stolen cash she had access to as a property store team leader.

Jaqueline Fletcher, of Boundary Walk, Brinsworth, appeared at Sheffield Magistrates’ Court charged with four counts of theft, including one of £95,800 from South Yorkshire Police.

The 48-year-old was reported on summons for theft from her employer and two counts of theft from the Department for Works and Pensions.

The fourth charge, of theft from the person of another, is alleged to have involved Fletcher taking money from the sale of her elderly mother’s property in 2011.

The DWP thefts — reportedly occurring between October 2011 and July 2016 — were in connection payments which should have been assisting Fletcher’s mother’s care home costs.

Fletcher is also alleged to have banked cash she had access to while she was property store team leader at Attercliffe Police Station in Sheffield.

She left South Yorkshire Police in 2015 and the money is still unaccounted for, the force said.

Fletcher, who is yet to enter a plea, is due to appear at Sheffield Crown Court on June 14.
