Sofa set on fire in Herringthorpe street
A HOMEOWNER took a unique approach to trying to get rid of a sofa last night (Wednesday).
A crew from Rotherham station was called to Herringthorpe Valley Road, Herringthorpe, at 8.50pm to find a sofa being burned out on waste ground.
A fire service spokesman said: "The owner of the sofa was in attendance and was setting fire to it themselves and it got out of control."
The arson attack was brought under control within 45 minutes.
Rubbish was also deliberately set alight on Bethel Road, Eastwood, at 9.30pm. The crew was at the scene for 15 minutes.
