Shower shorter and save

FAMILIES in Rotherham are being urged to cut down on their shower time by just three minutes per person to save cash and water.

By taking shorter showers, families could save as much as £251.75 each year—that’s £3.86 billion for the whole of Britain.

The figures come ahead of the launch of an innovative gadget which is set to save struggling families hundreds in gas, electricity and water costs this winter.

The Shower 'n' Save is the brainchild of inventor Russell Crawford, who hopes it will ease the financial strain of families.

The device works as a bathroom smart meter to monitor the cost of shower and bath use.

The Shower 'n' Save offers users an example of how much it costs for a shower or bath by combining the energy cost to heat the water with the actual cost of the water.

Not only does it save money, the Shower 'n' Save also helps the environment by emitting less harmful CO2 gases into the atmosphere.

By limiting showers to five to seven minutes per day, the average household could save up to 13,500 litres of water or 162 baths.
