Shopping trip mum's house blaze shock

Firefighters spent several hours yesterday battling the blaze at the semi-detached home in St Withold Court, Thurcroft.

Mum Sam Woodburn was out shopping when she was alerted by a neighbour that the fire had broken out.

Crews from Maltby and Rotherham fire stations were called to the four bedroom home after being alerted to the blaze, which is believed to have involved an gas meter box, with flames spreading through the house.

Fire crews used hose reels, water jets and a ladder platform to tackle the blaze.

Ms Woodburn and her children were staying with friends today.
