Seven injured in Wickersley crash

SEVEN people were injured — four seriously — in a car crash in Wickersley on Saturday evening.

A white Ford Focus is believed to have left a bus stop, crossed Bawtry Road and collided with a red Citroen Saxo.

The cars were travelling towards Rotherham, near Wickersley School, at the time.

The Saxo driver, a 22-year-old man, was taken to Rotherham Hospital with serious injuries,

His front seat passenger, a woman in her early 20s, and a 17-year-old girl in the back, were taken to Sheffield’s Northern General with serious injuries.

Two other rear passengers in the Saxo were taken to Sheffield Children’s Hospital — a three-year-old boy with serious injuries and a baby boy with minor injuries.

The Focus driver, a woman in her early 30s, a 31-year-old female passenger, were taken to Rotherham Hospital with slight injuries.

South Yorkshire Police are keen to hear from anyone who witnessed the incident, at 5.15pm, or how either car was being driven beforehand. Call 101 quoting incident 894 of Saturday May 3.
