Despite this she failed to make payments and was sent to prison last Monday.
The court action was part of Doncaster Council’s crack-down on non-payers.

“She was made well aware of the consequence of her actions but chose to withhold payment.
“Court action is a last resort for Doncaster Council and we work hard to help those struggling to pay access help, advice, benefits and discounts.
“Unfortunately there are people who refuse to pay their council tax even though they are financially able.
“We have a duty to all those who do pay on time to make sure they don’t get away with it.”
