Scooter rider hospitalised after crash
POLICE have issued an appeal for information after a motor scooter collided with a lamp post, seriously injuring the rider.
The black Honda bike was travelling on Piccadilly Road, Kilnhurst towards Wentworth Road at 11.40am today when it hit the pole.
The crash, near the junction with Valley Road and Kew Court, left a 33-year-old woman with "life-threatening injuries", a police spokeswoman said.

Hide AdYorkshire Air Ambulance attended along with paramedics and police, but the woman was taken to Northern General Hospital by road.
Police closed Piccadilly Road for several hours while the investigated the smash.
Officers would like to speak with anyone who saw the crash or the manner of driving before it.
