Schoolboys push woman to ground during handbag snatch attempt

A DOG walker was pushed to the ground by a gang of teenagers who tried to rob her handbag.

The 45-year-old woman managed to fight the offenders off but has been left with cuts and bruises to her face.

The woman was walking along a footpath between Harthill and Kiveton on Tuesday, known as Loopin Way close to Kiveton Wood, when a group of two to three boys approached her from behind at around 1pm.

Police said the boys pushed her to the ground and tried to grab her handbag, but the woman resisted and the offenders ran off.

The boys are all described as white and aged 13 to 14. 

One was wearing a blue and white shirt, possibly a football shirt, around 5ft 7ins tall and of a large build. 

PC Mark Gaffney said: “The woman has been left extremely upset by what happened and I’d like to ask anyone who was in the area at the time and who saw or heard anything suspicious to please contact us.” 

“Officers and PCSOs will be patrolling the area over the coming days and if anyone thinks they know who may be responsible, call us on 101 quoting incident number 546 of September 5.”
