School scoops award for tackling bullying

A SCHOOL has landed an award for its efforts to beat bullying.

Brinsworth Academy students were presented with the Rotherham Silver Anti-bullying standards award in recognition of efforts to tackle bullying and ensure a safe learning environment for students.

The school is the latest in Rotherham to be assessed by the scheme which looks at all the work done to improve behaviour and to stop bullying and grades them on a gold, silver or bronze standard.

Cllr Paul Lakin, the council’s Cabinet member for children, young people and families, said: “Ensuring children are safe is vital to ensuring they achieve their full potential at school.

"This anti-bullying scheme is helping schools assess their work and make sure they achieve the bext possible standards of care and support for their students.”
