“I am delighted to be appointed as chairperson of Voluntary Action Rotherham and look forward to playing a key role in the future of the organisation," she said.

“I am passionate about the voluntary and community sector and my vision is that the private, public, voluntary and community sectors work together hand-in-hand to provide excellent services here in Rotherham as equal partners.”

Janet Wheatley, VAR’s chief executive, said: “I will really miss working with Margaret who has been so supportive and instrumental in helping oversee the strategic future of VAR over the last few years.

“However we are really lucky to have Sarah as our new chairperson. She brings a huge amount of knowledge and expertise which will be vital to VAR in the future.”
