RSPCA tight-lipped over alleged pet raid on Thurcroft house

THE RSPCA has declined to confirm reports it seized dozens of dogs and cats from a house where they were allegedly kept caged outside.

A neighbour told the Advertiser the animal charity had removed the animals from the property in Crescent End, Thurcroft, on Tuesday and Wednesday.

The woman, who asked not to be named, said: “We have been concerned for years about these animals because they are kept caged outside all year round.

“People have been going crazy about this for years so I wonder why they have acted now.

“We’ve been complaining to the RSPCA and the council but until now nothing has happened.”

The RSPCA said in a statement: “Unfortunately we are unable to discuss complaints about specific people and what action may have been taken.

“We understand how frustrating that is for animals lovers but releasing information could prejudice a future prosecution or could lead to us being fined.

“We are so grateful to people who report suspected animal suffering to us and we would like to reassure people we will always look into and, if necessary, investigate any complaints made to us about animal welfare.”
