Bands The Mee Kats and the Tombstone Buzzards will perform at the Rockin’ in the Park concert in Clifton Park on Friday, September 8 — the night before the show returns for a 38th year.

The show — which usually attracts around 70,000 people — is one of the largest free events in the north of England and will include live music, entertainment, activities, stalls and exhibitors.

Attractions include a horticultural show, vintage vehicle rally a dog show and a Yorkshire’s Strongest Man competition.

It will run from 10am until 5.30pm on Saturday and Sunday.

Cllr Taiba Yasseen, Rotherham Borough Council’s Cabinet member for neighbourhoods and cultural services, said: “This year is the 38th Rotherham Show and we welcome everyone to come along for two days of fun and entertainment in the beautiful surrounding of the award-winning Clifton Park.

“Entertainment throughout the weekend will include the main arena with The Galloping Acrobatics, Rockwood Dog Display Team and more, the music marquee providing fantastic live performances on both Saturday and Sunday and, of course, the vintage vehicle rally, horticultural show, diversity festival, emergency services day, dog show, Yorkshire’s strongest man and much more.

“Also new for 2017 is the Pop-Up Vintage Fair with an eclectic mix of vintage stalls and vintage entertainment throughout the weekend at the Bandstand area of Clifton Park.

“There will be lots of fabulous walkabouts including the giant summer lion and the whale — an 18 foot installation offering wonderful theatre shows inside over the weekend.”

Tickets priced £12.50 per person are available from Rotherham Visitor Centre on Bridgegate.
